Davidson seems to do that effortlessly, capturing hints from a whole range of sources – and forming a beautiful picture using those fragments. I bought this when I first moved to SF in 2008 on a student budget, along with Broke Ass Stuart's Guide to Living Cheaply in San Francisco. This book is fabulous. The perspective is personal, original, sometimes humorous, sometimes sad, I admire her courage in following through in this tail (tale). If it weren't for the horrendous directions, I would have given this book four or five stars, but for me a book like this must be able to get me where I'm going.
